Yeah... that's something strange coming from me, right? :D

Those who know me a bit more, know that I'm not really a pokemon player.
The games have a certain interest on me, but I never really got into them.
My biggest problem, basically, was the ultimate goal of the games: "Gotta catch them all". Which is impossible if you start with a later version of the game and don't have our old pokemons to transfer. And let's not even start to talk about legendary pokemons that are handed out once and never again... (what a terrible choice for a game like Pokemon...)
I know, you're supposed to be trading, but seriously? Who gives their legendary away - and for what?

So, I mentally gave up on the franchise. Until I heard about a certain Challenge: The Nutzlocke Challenge.
For those who don't know, the Nutzlocke challenge, as far as I know, was created to force players to use Pokemon they usually wouldn't use. While playing, you're limited in which Pokemon you're allowed to catch and keep.
Basically, you catch the first Pokemon you encounter in an area, and aren't allowed to catch any other Pokemon of that area. If a Pokemon dies, you can't revive it.
And I admit, this challenge makes the games interesting for me again.

Many actually document their Nutzlocke. I've seen Let's plays, but my interest was more captured by comics.
So I started thinking...
Why not taking the first Pokemon game, play a Nutzlocke challenge with suited rules (I would change them up a bit to fit my playstyle more) and write it down as FanFiction?
I thought more about it, and I think it would be a nice thing to write in form of a diary. Even more, as a character who lost his memories and thus knows nothing about the world of Pokemon. The reason for this is simple: I don't know anything (or not much at least) about this world, so I could actually write down my own experience in discovering the games.
Yep, that's right, games.
What I also thought about, is to not stop with the first game, but to carry the surviving Pokemon over to the next one and continue the story.

And here's the thing. I got very mixed answers on the simple question of if you're able to carry over your GBC Pokemon to GBA, or even over to the DS games through the very different games.
Some say you can't carry them over to GBA, and you need to play firered instead of red, for example, to get the first Gen Pokemon. Other stated that they still have their very first Pokemon from the GBC.
Can anyone give me a certain answer to it?

Also, since I would like to take the games in order, would it be possible to, for example, carry over my Firered Pokemon to Soulsilver and then back to Ruby and then to Pearl? Or Do I have to change the order to firered > Ruby > Soulsilver > Pearl?
And would this change in the storyline make sense? (as in traveling to the Hoenn region before going to Johto?)

Of course, there's another reason behind writing this all down. I think it might actually improve my english, and it would give me something to write while I still work on my book.
I'll be honest with you, I pretty much decided to stop drawing. Not entirely, but I don't want to plan anything drawing related. It's just disappointing in the end, when I have to admit that I neither find the time to draw everything I want to draw, nor the skills to do it right.
Also, for someone who claims to be a writer, there's awfully less writing in my DA gallery... and I think this has to change XD
So I would actually play the games more as a writing tool, instead of, you know, just playing causally.

Keep in mind though, these are just thoughts.
I don't know if I'll start this. I don't know if people would actually be interested in it. And I certainly don't know if I keep going if I start, and if I even finnish it.
No promises here - just sharing my thoughts.

I know you can transfer Pokemon from the GBA to the DS-Versions (at least it worked for Leafgreen -> Pearl for me), but not directly...basically you put both modules in the same DS, then you can choose in the GBA game which Pokémon to transfer and then you can go to a certain area on the DS version where you can catch your transfered pokémon again. I'm not sure if it's actually the same pokémon though, regarding level and skills.

I don't think there was a way to transfer from the GB(C) versions to GBA though...

It's funny, 'cause I just started to play all the pokémon games again because I had to admitt to myself that I never finished any of them apart from red and silver, so I'm playing Yellow right now. I don't like the 'Catch them all'-goal either, so for me 'finished' in a pokémon game means doing anything storywise and getting all the legendaries this particular version has access to xD
